Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow received Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufiq, the head of the Malaysian PETRONAS company, as reported by the Watan news program. As noted, during the meeting, it was noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia are based on mutual respect and equality, and that regular high-level visits contribute to the development of these relations. The President of Turkmenistan noted that he fondly remembers his official visit to Malaysia last December and expressed confidence that the results of his talks with the head of PETRONAS during the visit would give an additional impetus to cooperation between the two countries and raise it to a qualitatively new level. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the continuous development and strengthening of bilateral relations with Malaysia in the fields of economy, trade, transport, energy, education, culture and other areas. Trade and economic cooperation is an important direction of Turkmen-Malaysian relations. Positive experience of cooperation with leading Malaysian companies in this field has been accumulated. In this regard, the role of PETRONAS in the continuous development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia was emphasized. The interlocutors identified the fuel and energy sector as a promising area of ​​cooperation between the two countries. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that PETRONAS has been actively participating in projects to extract hydrocarbon resources in Turkmenistan for nearly 30 years, as well as conducting relevant work to train high-level specialists for the oil and gas industry, and confirmed that the Turkmen state is ready to consider concrete proposals aimed at developing the positive cooperation established in new areas. The head of PETRONAS expressed his gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the high level of trust shown during many years of cooperation and noted that the company will continue to be committed to the partnership commitments it has undertaken.
