On September 12, 2024, the Ambassador of Korea to Turkmenistan and representatives of the Embassy made a working visit to the "Balkan" Shipbuilding and Repair Plant. During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the production capabilities and capacity of the plant. The representatives of the plant spoke about the implementation of the projects currently being carried out. In particular, the guests observed the construction of 2 dry cargo ships under construction at the factory. The guests highlighted the modern equipment and techniques installed at the "Balkan" plant and emphasized their readiness to further deepen the ongoing cooperation. Within the framework of this visit, a joint Turkmen-Korean conference dedicated to Turkmen-Korean cooperation was held at the Berkarar guest house in the Avaza national tourism zone. Representatives of "Turkmendenizderyayollary" agency, representatives of the Korean Embassy in Turkmenistan, leaders of "KOMEA" marine equipment research association, "Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd." attended the meeting. (KSIT) company representatives also participated. The meeting started with a welcome speech by the Korean Embassy in Turkmenistan, Mr. Ji Gyu Taek. In turn, he noted the ongoing cooperation between Turkmenistan and Korea, especially in the shipbuilding sector, and expressed his readiness to further deepen cooperation and implement projects in this regard. During the meeting, it was noted that the Turkmen-Korean bilateral relations are being successfully developed, and confidence was expressed in coordinating joint efforts with the Republic of Korea in the implementation of the proposed projects. In this regard, the importance of high-level mutually advantageous cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, i.e. in the construction of two dry cargo vessels, which are planned to be built, was emphasized. The participants of the meeting talked about the results and achievements in the shipbuilding industry between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, as well as "Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant" and "Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd." made a presentation about the achievements made together with the company. At the end of the meeting, it was confirmed that the parties are ready to make further joint efforts to bring Turkmen-Korean relations to a qualitatively new level for the benefit of the welfare of the two countries.
