Turkmenistan and India strengthen cooperation in the field of maritime transport

    June.14.2024

The Chairman of the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency held talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan. The parties considered the possibility of transiting goods through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which has great potential. The diplomat said that more than 30 Indian companies are interested in using the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which occupies an important place in the international North-South transport corridor. Representatives of Turkmendenizderyayollary responded to this by inviting the Indian side to establish an exchange of experience in port management. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to make every effort to develop cooperation in the field of maritime transport. Turkmenistan is actively implementing projects to form a multi-vector logistics system, in particular, the infrastructure of the maritime transport network is expanding. One of such large-scale facilities commissioned in 2018 was the Turkmenbashi International Port on the Caspian coast.
